Programs that provide transportation for medical appointments, trips from and between hospitals, to nursing homes or other special-care centers or for other non-emergency medical needs for individuals who, because of financial problems or their physical condition, are unable to use other means of local transportation. NEMT service providers are able to transport riders who require a wheelchair lift equipped vehicle with appropriate protective restraints or a van that is designed for gurney/stretcher transportation, or has other types of features to meet their safety needs. Services Provided: Angel Wheels to Healing (formerly Angel Bus) is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to providing compassionate, non-emergency long-distance ground transportation to patients in need. A typical trip supported by Angel Wheels to Healing does not exceed 300 miles (one-way), and we do not normally handle trips within a local area or community. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis, routinely for cancer patients traveling daily for treatment.

Benewah Area Transit (BAT) offers curb to curb, demand response transportation service in the St. Maries area. BAT provides services to the general public for shopping, medical appointments, socialization and recreational activities within 7 miles of the of St. Maries city limits. BAT also provides Medicaid approved transportation to St. Maries, Coeur d’ Alene, Post Falls, and Hayden, ID from outlying areas such as Fernwood, Santa, Emida and Plummer, Idaho. Requests to and from other areas may be considered. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday (except holidays). Medicaid transportation must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance by calling Medicaid’s Brokerage Company (VEYO) at1-877-503-1261.

Services Provided: ACCESS is a transportation service designed to complement ValleyRide's regular bus system. The service is available to people who are unable to utilize the bus system because of a disability. Eligibility may be limited on a conditional basis, and each trip can be reviewed. Access operates the same hours as the bus system. Service is by reservation only. Trips may be booked up to 14 days in advance, but no later than 4 p.m., for service the next operating day. Once approved, ACCESS fares are $2 per one-way trip for each passenger and for each guest. A personal care attendant may ride free.

Services Provided: Partnership of public entities provide a share-a-ride paratransit service in the urban area (CdA, Dalton, Hayden, Huetter, and Post Falls) and within 3/4 mile of the fixed route service. Door-to-door shared ride transportation for people who are disabled and because of the disability are not able to use the regular bus service either some or all of the time, and have a qualifying disability that has been certified by a healthcare professional. Application required-card provided for access to the service. Van drivers can provide assistance with up to 4 grocery bags (no more than 25 lbs each). Service provided within 3/4 mile of the regular bus routes. If you live outside the area, you can use the system, but you have to get into the service area.
