Services Provided: The Idaho Commission on Aging (ICOA) serves Idahou2019s seniors and people with disabilities by safeguarding their rights, fostering self-sufficiency, providing counseling, and advocating on their behalf. The ICOA provides opportunities for individuals to access a comprehensive array of private and public pay, long term care, support services through u201cSingle Access Pointsu201d operated by the Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs).

The Older Americans Act (OAA) authorizes the state to designate a State Unit on Aging (SUA) to administer federal programs in Idaho. As the SUA, ICOA has the authority to: develop and manage budgets and programs, propose statutory changes and administrative rules, and develop the required State Plan to address the needs of older Idahoans, people with disabilities and their caregivers.

The Idaho Commission on Aging was designated by the Governor as the SUA, pursuant to the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, Section 305. The ICOA is considered an independent Commission directly under the Governoru2019s office and administers and ensures compliance of state and federally funded programs under the Older Americans Act and the State Senior Services Act.
