Services Provided: Tobacco Prevention, Control and Cessation Program
The Tobacco Prevention and Control Program works to create healthier communities by preventing initiation of tobacco and e-cigarette use among youth with educational programs in the schools. Staff provide technical assistance in developing and implementing smoke-free/tobacco-free policies for schools, outdoor recreation areas, housing, and local businesses. The Tobacco Cessation Program uses Idaho Tobacco Millennium Funds to offer free tobacco cessation classes for pregnant women, youth and adults.

Comprehensive Cancer Program – Coalition, Colon Cancer, Skin Cancer
CASPA Coalition -
The Cancer Awareness, Screening, and Prevention Alliance (CASPA) is a local cancer advisory group facilitated by Central District Health Department. It exists for networking, identification of cancer resources, and project development and implementation to enhance comprehensive cancer control and reduce risk factors.

Colon Cancer Awareness –
The colon cancer project includes a multi-media awareness campaign to promote the importance of early detection of colon cancer through screening. Staff also partner with healthcare providers to promote colon cancer awareness and screening. Through partnership support, free colon disease screening kits are made available through 2-1-1 Idaho CareLine.

Skin Cancer Prevention –
The skin cancer prevention project includes a multi-media awareness campaign to encourage skin cancer prevention and increases awareness of the importance of skin cancer screening. The Team Sun Safety program educates and provides technical assistance to childcare providers on developing and implementing policies to increase sun safety and decrease incidence of skin cancer.

Oral Health Program:
The Oral Health Program offers oral health education and fluoride varnish applications to children from 0-5 years old and their parents/caregivers. Children/mothers enrolled in WIC can schedule during a WIC appointment.

Injury Prevention Program (Fit and Fall Proof™)
The program is establishing volunteer-led exercise programs for seniors over 65 to increase flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance. Fit and Fall Proof™ classes help seniors reduce the risk of falling. The Fit and Fall Proof™ Program is designed to help older adults prevent injury and the subsequent loss of independence. Class participants learn simple exercises to increase strength, balance and endurance, which can help prevent accidental falls associated with age.
