Biosketch:

Dr. Thuet is a board-certified pediatrician who is passionate about expanding access to mental and behavioral health services for at-risk youth populations. Prior to joining the University of Utah, she worked as a pediatrician serving children and adolescents of the Navajo, Hopi and San Juan Paiute tribes in Tuba City, Arizona. While there, she spent the majority of her clinical time addressing the mental and behavioral health care needs of adolescents in two high school-based primary care clinics and served as the Physician Advisor for the high schools’ Suicide Prevention Task Force. She designed, led and implemented a tele-psych clinic integrated into the primary care clinic to mitigate the stigma adolescents reported facing when seen walking into the local mental and behavioral health clinic.

Upon joining the University of Utah in 2021, Dr. Thuet was appointed as the Director of School-Based Health Development and has developed a novel interdisciplinary mental and behavioral health collaborative care model integrated into school-based primary care clinics in an effort to fight Utah’s mental health crisis.

As a board-certified pediatrician and board-certified lactation consultant, Dr. Thuet specializes in breastfeeding medicine and spends the majority of her clinical time supervising residents and medical students in the University Hospital Well Baby and Intermediate Care Nurseries. In this role, she is able to offer learners the knowledge and skills a pediatrician should have in their tool box to empower first-time or experienced breastfeeding caregivers to meet their breastfeeding goals.

Outside of the clinical setting, Dr. Thuet’s advocacy for underserved populations led her to found With Love, From Strangers, a Utah non-profit organization inspiring strangers to share resources with underserved communities.
